What is NanoCurcumin?

Nanocurcumin is the modified form of Curcumin in which curcumin particles have been converted in the form of nano (small) particles for better delivery, solubility and absorption in the body. The central dynamic fixing in turmeric is Curcumin. Turmeric is a product of Curcuma longa, a rhizomatous herbaceous perennial plant belonging to the ginger family Zingiberaceae, Turmeric the golden curry spice, is the new wonder supplement. It has been used for centuries in Chinese and Ayurvedic medicine for the treatment various aliens.

Chemical Composition of Nano Curcumin

Nano curcumin comprises carbohydrates (96.4%), moisture (13.1%), protein (6.3%), fat (5.1%), and minerals (3.5%), according to chemical analysis. Its extracts produce curcuminoids, including curcumin (77%), demethoxycurcumin (DMC 17%), and bisdemethoxycurcumin (BDMC 3%). Curcuminoids, particularly curcumin, are used as medicines and supplements [8]. Curcumin is a symmetric molecule also known as diferuloylmethane. The chemical formula C21H20O6 and molecular weight of 368.38. Its structure has three chemical entities: two aromatic ring systems containing o-methoxy phenolic groups connected by a seven-carbon linker consisting of an α, β-unsaturated β-diketone moiety.

Clinical Evidence:
  • Anti-inflammatory
A total of 60 COVID-19 patients were randomly divided into nano-curcumin and control groups, and then they received 240 mg/day nano-curcumin for 7 days.The laboratory parameters in patients were recorded on days 0 and seven. there was a significant difference between the nano-curcumin and control groups in the serum levels of IL-1β (p = 0.042). The evidence demonstrated that nano-curcumin could be implicated as a complementary medication to act as an antiinflammatory agent and inhibit inflammatory complications.
  • Antisepsis Agent
The present trial aimed to investigate the effects of nano-curcumin supplementation on hematological indices in critically ill patients with sepsis. Fourteen ICU-admitted patients were randomly allocated into either nano-curcumin or placebo group for 10 days. the levels of interleukin-8 significantly decreased in the nano-curcumin group compared to the placebo after 10 days of intervention However, total lymphocyte count showed a significant increase in the nano-curcumin group compared to the placebo at the end-point (p = .04). Collectively, nano-curcumin may be a useful adjuvant therapy in critically ill patients with sepsis

Bioavailability of Curcumin

Curcumin nanoparticles enhance the solubility of curcumin by improving bioavailability more than 5 times from simple curcumin powder. In this study, high-pressure homogenization method is used for increasing curcumin solubility, various stabilizers exert their effects via different stabilization mechanism. Compared to other methods, high pressure homogenization (HPH) technique possesses more benefits for producing curcumin nanocrystals. This formulation causes an increase in dissolution rate, saturation solubility and stability of nanocrystal-loaded drug capsule. In comparison to commercial product, the dissolution behaviour has improved significantly which has been an examined in many experiments. The enhanced bioavailability of drugs with poor solubility property is obtained by elevated solubility behaviour in nanocrystal drug-loaded solid dosage types

Health Benefits
  • Nano curcumin supplements possess improved antioxidant properties
  • Boost the immune system and prevent bacterial infection
  • Process anti-inflammatory properties
  • Lower blood pressure and reduced cholesterol levels
  • Regulate menstruation, soothe and calm the mind, and induce better sleep
  • Strengthens bones and relieve joint pain
  • Promote healthy lung function
  • Regulate blood sugar levels and maintain healthy insulin

Safety
  • No serious adverse events or treatment-related deaths were detected. No patients withdrew as a result of drug adverse events.
  • Nanocurcumin is safe and might improve the probability of survival as an add-on treatment in patients with ALS, especially in those with existing bulbar symptoms.

Mechanism of action:

Nano Curcumin particles easily dissolve up to 98% in water compared to curcumin, which increasing the maximum absorption capacity for the body. With a super small size from 30nm-100nm, Nano Curcumin disperses well in water, the solubility increases thousands of times compared to conventional curcumin. The ultra-small nano size also helps the Curcumin Nano particles to penetrate quickly to promote the therapeutic effect in most different organs in the body.
